Men's Season Ends With Semifinal Loss at Long Island on Sunday

The Central Connecticut men's basketball season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 69-67 loss on the road to Long Island in the Northeast Conference semifinals. With the loss Central ends the year with a 19-12 overall mark. Long Island advances and will host NEC finals on Wednesday night, and is now 26-5 overall on the season. Junior Robby Ptacek led the Blue Devils with 15 points, 13 of which came in the second half.

Blue Devils, Terriers Set to Clash in NEC Quarterfinal Tonight in Detrick Gym

The fourth seed Central Connecticut men's basketball team is set to host fifth seed St. Francis (NY) tonight at 7 p.m. in Detrick Gym. The Blue Devils are hosting an NEC Tournament game for the first time in four seasons, and are an impressive 11-2 at home this season. NEC Player of the Year Ken Horton leads a Blue Devil team looking to advance to the semifinals this Sunday, at a site to be determined. Ticket windows open at 5 p.m.

Thompson and Ptacek Lead Blue Devils to Quarterfinal Win Over St. Francis (NY) on Thursday Night

Guards Shemik Thompson and Robby Ptacek combined for 32 points, seven assists and 10 rebounds as the Central Connecticut men's basketball team topped St. Francis (NY) in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast Conference Tournament on Thursday night. The Blue Devils will head to top seed Long Island on Sunday at 12 noon for a semifinal match-up with the Blackbirds. The game will be televised live on MSG.

Junior Ken Horton Named Northeast Conference Player of the Year

Junior Ken Horton was named the 2011 Northeast Conference men's basketball player of the year on Tuesday. Horton, who leads the league in scoring and is second in rebounding, is the fifth Central player to earn the honor in the last 12 seasons. The junior from Ossining, NY, missed the entire 2009-10 season with a injury, before returning this season to lead the Blue Devils to a fourth place finish in the league regular season standings. Horton was also named to the league's First Team All-Conference squad.

Junior Ken Horton posted his 11th double-double of the season with 27 points and 12 rebounds but the Central Connecticut #$%^men's basketball team lost for the second straight game, and the third in their last four, dropping a 75-65 decision on the road at #$%^St. Francis (NY). With the loss the Blue Devils are now 18-10 overall and 11-6 in Northeast Conference play. The Terriers #$%^improve to 14-14 overall and 9-8 in the league with their third straight win.

Junior Ken Horton Named NEC Player of the Week for the Fifth Time This Season

Junior Ken Horton was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the fifth time this season on Monday. Horton has been honored three straight weeks, four of the last five and five times overall this season. The Blue Devils went 1-1 last week with a win over Sacred Heart and a loss to Quinnipiac on Saturday. Horton has now scored in double-figures in 22 straight games for the Blue Devils. Central returns to action on Thursday night at St. Francis (NY) at 7 p.m.

Horton's Career-High 35 Not Enough as Blue Devils Fall by One to Quinnipiac

Junior Ken Horton scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed nine rebounds but the Central Connecticut men's basketball team dropped a 68-67 decision at home to Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Blue Devils drop to 18-9 overall and 11-5 in Northeast Conference play. The Bobcats are 19-8 and 11-5, and hold the tie breaker against the Blue Devils after winning both games between the two teams this season.

Junior Ken Horton scored 18 points, 14 in the second half, as the Central Connecticut men's basketball team topped Sacred Heart 57-56 at home on Thursday night. With the win Central improves to 18-8 overall and 11-4 in Northeast Conference play. The Blue Devils are 11-1 at home this season and play again in Detrick Gym on Saturday against Quinnipiac at 3:30 p.m.

Junior forward Ken Horton was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference men's basketball player of the week for the second straight week and the fourth time this season on Monday. Horton put together one of his most productive weeks of the season in a pair of games again Bryant. The junior leads the NEC in scoring and rebounding for the 17-8 Blue Devils.

The Central Connecticut men's basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with an 85-80 overtime loss on the road at Bryant University. Junior Ken Horton posted his fourth straight and his 10th double-double of the season with 27 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the loss. The Blue Devils fall to 17-8 overall and 10-4 in Northeast Conference play.

Junior Ken Horton scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Central Connecticut men's basketball team won its seventh straight game, 71-55, over visiting Bryant on Wednesday night. The Blue Devils improve to 17-7 overall with the victory, and 10-3 in the Northeast Conference. Central and Bryant will play again in just four days, at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Rhode Island.

Horton and the Blue Devils have won six in a row heading into Wednesday's night's home game with Bryant. Horton leads the league in scoring and is second in rebounding this season.

Central Wins Sixth Straight and Sweeps Trip to Western Pennsylvania for First Time Since 2001-02

The Central Connecticut men's basketball team won its sixth straight game on Saturday night, winning 80-58 on the road at Robert Morris. The win gives the Blue Devils a sweep of the Western Pennsylvania trip for the first time since the 2001-02 season. Central topped St. Francis (PA) on Thursday night. The win is the first for the Blue Devils at Robert Morris since the 2003-04 season. With the victory the Blue Devils improve to 16-7 overall and 9-3 in Northeast Conference play. They have won 12 of their last 14 games.

Men's Hoop Wins Fifth Straight With 86-79 Victory at St. Francis (PA) on Thursday Night

The Central Connecticut men's basketball team won its fifth straight game, topping St. Francis (PA) 86-79, on the road on Thursday night. Central led by as many as 29 points in the first half, and hit an amazing 35-of-45 from the free-throw line in earning the victory. With the win the Blue Devils improve to 15-7 overall and 8-3 in Northeast Conference play. The return to action on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Robert Morris.
