Blue Devils travel to Kent State for a noon game on Saturday

The Central Connecticut State football team takes to the road for the first time this season, travelling to MAC member Kent State for a 12:00pm game on Saturday. The week three road opener is the latest in a CCSU season since the 1975 team started with consecutive home games.

• The matchup with Kent State marks the sixth year in a row that CCSU takes on an FBS foe.
• CCSU is one of 13 FCS teams with a blocked kick through two weeks
• The Blue Devils have scored nine touchdowns this season with scores coming from nine different players
• Dan Toatley and Ahmad Craig rank first and second in the NEC in sacks per games. Toatley is tops with 1.25 per outing, 10th in FCS, while Craig is 16th with 1.0 per game. The team is fifth in the country with 4.0 sacks/game in the first two weeks.
• Trey Howe picked up NEC Rookie of the Week accolades after blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown. It is the redshirt-freshmen's first-ever block or TD.
• The CCSU defense is sixth in FCS football allowing just 114 passing yards a game. That number is second in the NEC
• The Blue Devils are averaging 474 yards of total offense per game, with 528 in the opener and 420 in week two. That ranks seventh in FCS and tops in the NEC.
• Isiah Williams recorded a single-game careeer best reception total for the second time in as many games on Saturday. He caught seven passes for a career-high 95 yards against Stonehill, after six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown in the opener. He leads the team with 13 catches and 156 total yards.
• Paul Marsh, Jr., Cortaz Williams, and Elijah Howard all had their first career touchdowns as Blue Devils in the win over AIC. Trey Howe, Naj Johnson and Ricky Ortega joined that list in the Stonehill game.
• Davian Johnson was an NEC Prime Performer for his 156 all-purpose yards effort in the season opener. Through two games he is averaging 135.5 all-purpose yards. He has 122 receiving yards, 101 rushing yards and 48 kick return yards.
• The 44 points the Blue Devils scored in the opener is the most since putting up 49 at Merrimack in 2021. It is the most points at home since a 49-point effort against Robert Morris during the 2019 championship season, a year they eclipsed 40 five times
• Kimal Clark became the first Blue Devil to record double-digit tckles in a game, with a career-high 10 against Stonehill. His 17 tackles this season, eight solo, surpasses the 15 he recorded a season ago.
• The Blue Devil defense has broken up 11 passes in the first two weeks of the season, by seven different players.
• Tavian Montgomery is averaging 17 yards per punt return, sixth-best average in FCS. He has six returns for 102 yards this fall, with a long of 48 in the opener. On defense, Montgomery, a transfer from Northern Arizona, has seven tackles and two PBU's.
