Bio

Caleb Gelsomino joined the CCSU football staff as the offensive coordinator in March 2023. He has made stops at Virginia Tech, Bridgewater State and made an FCS playoff appearance during his tenure at Sacred Heart.  He is also the Blue Devils quarterback coach.

Gelsomino played two seasons at Bridgewater State, including an at-large bid to the CNAA Division III playoffs. He graduated from Bridgewater with a BS in Business Management in 2013.

Gelsomino and his wife, Caley, have a son, Casey.

BEFORE CCSU

Bridgewater State University (2022-23)

  • Co-Offensive coordinator and quarterback’s coach
  • Oversaw all aspects of the offensive gameplan and handled in-game play calling

Virginia Tech University (2017-2022)

  • Served as Analyst for QB’s and tight ends from 2020-22, after having worked with the QB’s, receivers and tight ends as a graduate assistant coach from 2017-19
  • Assumed the role of running position meetings during Covid in the absence of multiple position coaches
  • Gelsomino coached two Virginia Tech tight ends into the NFL Draft, with Dalton Keene (3rd round – New England) in 2020 and James Mitchell (5th round – Detroit) in 2023
  • Coached the Hokies in four bowl games during his time on staff (Camping World, Military, Belk and Pinstripe)

Sacred Heart University (2014-17)

  • Took over as co-offensive coordinator for the 2016 campaign, while working with QB’s and serving as pass game coordinator
  • Coached the running backs in 2014-15, helping the Pioneers to a 2014 NEC Championship and FCS playoff appearance

New England Patriots (2013-14)

  • Was a football operations intern for the Patriots, assisting coaches with a variety of tasks and assisting in on field drills
