Milani Named NEC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Milani was joined on the weekly Prime Performer list with Weronika Poczynek.
Central Connecticut junior Lauren Milani was named Northeast Conference Volleyball/Molten Defensive Player of the Week it was announced Tuesday by the league office. Milani was also named a Prime Performer, along with teammate Weronika Poczynek, after helping CCSU to a win over Sacred Heart last week.
In the Blue Devils' only match of the week, Milani posted her first double-double of the season in a win over first-place SHU. The junior outside hitter had her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and a team-high 22 digs. Milani added two blocks as CCSU limited the Pioneers to a .156 attack percentage. In sets three and four, Milani had eight digs and five digs, respectively, as the Central defense held SHU to a .089 and .098 attack percentage to close out the match. Milani added 23 receptions with just two errors, including 18 receptions without an error in the three sets won.
Poczynek posted her ninth double-double of the season, and her third straight, with 13 kills and 17 digs. The sophomore outside hitter added a block, two aces and two assists in the victory. In the fourth set, she had six kills and three digs with a .500 attack percentage to clinch the win. Poczynek also added 31 receptions without an error.
CCSU travels to Le Moyne on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
