Central Places Second at CCSU Blue Devil Invite
Women's track earned 68 points at the home meet on Saturday.
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team placed second at the 2021 CCSU Blue Devil Invite on Saturday. The Blue Devils tallied 71 points, while UAlbany finished in first place with 73 points.

Distance runner Ashley Dana placed first in the 800 meter event, posting a time of 2:17.75 which was over five seconds better than Kaitlyn Butterfield of UAlbany. The sophomore also took gold in the 1500 meters with a dominating time of 4:37.73.

Senior Hailey Rospierski won the 100 meter hurdles for the third time this season, coming in with a time of 14.86.

Freshman Magnalen Camara earned five points for CCSU with a victory in the 400 meter hurdles finals.

The first gold medal of the day in the track events was awarded to Angie Rafter who placed first in the 3000 meter steeplechase. She earned five points in the event for the Blue Devils.

Rospierski also took gold in the women's long jump finals, with a mark of 5.38m and conversion of 17'8".

Danyelle Engels and Victoria Santiago earned a combined eight points for CCSU in the discus finals. Engels had a best mark of 34.71m and conversion of 113'10", while Santiago had a mark of 23.23m and conversion of 76'2".
