Blue Devils Announce Incoming Swimming & Diving Class
Defending NEC Champions bolster roster with 13 newcomers
Central Connecticut head swimming and diving coach Bill Ball announced the Blue Devils incoming class of newcomers for the 2023-24 campaign. The 13-member class is comprised of eight swimmers and five divers, hailing from four states.
"I am excited to announce our 2023 Freshmen class," said Ball. "This group is loaded with talent and the ability to greatly impact the conference in a positive way. With the recent decisions by the Northeast Conference to increase the number of scorers at the conference meet to 24 and increase the scoring in each event to include the C final this group will greatly assist us to maintain our position atop the conference and allow us to continue the ability to compete for the Northeast championship this year and moving forward."
Ali Albanese (Durham, CT), a Coginchaug High School graduate, will dive for the Blue Devils.
Kaitlyn Carroll (Liverpool, NY) is a Cicero-North High graduate, and will join the CCSU diving group.
Olivia Coddington (Milford, CT), a graduate of Jonathan Law High School, is a member of the diving corp.
Lauryn Cowing (Hampden, ME) graduated from Hampden Academy and swam for the Bangor YMCA Barracudas. She will compete in the sprint events.
Rachel Giroux (West Hartford, CT) completed her scholastic career at Conard High School. She competed for the Rip-a-Dive Club in Hartford, CT, and will dive at CCSU.
Tallulah Going (Danbury, CT) attending Danbury High School and swam for the New Fairfield Y. She is a sprinter.
Hannah Kretkowski (Matawan, NJ), graduated from Old Bridge High School and competed for the Y of Greater Monmouth. She will swim fly and IM events for the Blue Devils.
Sophie Milhomens (Wolcott, CT) is a graduate of Wolcott High School and swam for the Cheshire Y Sea Dogs. She will compete in butterfly, backstroke and IM's.
Katrine O'Leary (Seymour, CT) comes to New Britain after a career at Seymour High School and with the Cheshire Y Sea Dogs. She is a freestyler and backstroker.
Sophia Pincince (West Hartford, CT) is a Conard High School graduate and competed for the Mandel JCC Sharks. She will join the Blue Devils distance freestyle group.
Maggie Rutledge (Southbury, CT), a graduate of Pomperaug High School, swims for the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut. She will be a member of the distance freestyle group.
Layla Solberg (Middletown, CT) is a graduate of Middletown High School. She joins the Blue Devil diving unit.
Grace Young (Guilford, CT), a Guilford High School graduate, competed for the Soundview YMCA Stingrays in Branford, CT. She will compete in breaststroke events for CCSU.
The CCSU swimming and diving team is the defending Northeast Conference champions. The Blue Devils won their seventh conference crown, the most by a single-team in program history.
