Swimming and Diving Competes at LIU Post on Saturday
Blue Devils swam their second meet in as many days
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team traveled to LIU Post for its second meet in as many days on Saturday. The Blue Devils dropped a 110-89 decision and will be back in action again at home on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28, in a home meet with the University of New Hampshire.
The Blue Devils began the meet with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Junior Kaitlyn Troy, senior Maddy Garber, sophomore Alexis Fredricks and senior Lauren Czulewicz swam a time of 1:48.40.
Junior Aidan Devers posted a first place finish in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:32.02. She was followed by sophomore Grace Regan who finished second in 10:42.74.
Fredricks finished third in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:57.80, while sophomore Erika Maercklein was fourth in 1:58.36. Sophomore Valentina Gomez finished fifth in 2:00.31 for the Blue Devils. In the 50 freestyle Czulewicz finished third in a time of 25.28.
Garber was second in the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:13.09. Sophomore Keelin Kendall was third in 2:15.56.
Gomez finished first in the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 59.49 and Fredricks was second in 1:00.96. Senior Luna Milne finished sixth in 1:05.36 and freshman Erin Brown was seventh inn 1:10.42.
Czulewicz was third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.70. Maercklein was fourth in 55.47 and Kendall was sixth in 57.95.
Troy finished third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.63.
Devers posted her second win of the day with a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:11.83. Gomez was second in 5:13.01. Garber finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.95 while Regan was third in 1:09.68 and Kendall was fourth in 1:09.93.
