McLaughlin Earns Player of the Week Honors
One of CCSU women's soccers' stars, junior midfielder Roma McLaughlin, took home Player of the Week honors from the Northeast Conference after a week filled with goals.
McLaughlin scored two goals over CCSU's two games against Howard and Saint Francis Brooklyn last week. Her penalty kick goal against the Howard Bison broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the game winner, her second game winner of the season.
The Blue Devils were tied 0-0 late against the Terriers during Sunday's match. Just a few minutes after Autumn Skowrenski's goal broke the stalemate, McLaughlin sent a rocket of a kick over the SFBK keeper's head, giving CCSU some breathing room that they used to take the game 2-0.
McLaughlin has been on a tear all year for CCSU, and proof is right in the numbers for the All-American. She leads the Blue Devils with six goals, which is tied for second in the NEC, and also paces the team with 14 points, another total that puts her seccond in the conference.
McLaughlin and the Blue Devils are back in action today in a road match against the Harvard Crimson.
