KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils got off to a great start on Friday, getting tons of second chance buckets in the first quarter thanks to 10 offensive rebounds.
- Nibbelink had an especially impressive second chance bucket in the first. She had a nasty block on defense, sprinted back up the floor and put back an airball for an easy two points. The Blue Devils went into the second half with a 15-9 lead over the Red Flash.
- The SFU offense, which had been contained to only 4-15 shooting in the first quarter, came to life in the second and third quarters of this game. The Red Flash shot 56.3 percent and 57.1 percent in these two quarters, respectively, while the Blue Devil offense searched for answers.
- Forever Toppin was an easy answer in the second. She finished with eight points in 10 minutes in the second quarter, but the Blue Devils were unable to get much else going. Toppin swished a three with 17 seconds to play in the half, but the Red Flash scored once more to go up by a bucket heading into the halftime break.
- The Blue Devil offense tried to rally in the third, but it seemed as if the Red Flash had an answer for everything on the court. A nice move from Dejah Jenkins inside made it a one possession game again, but then SFU snapped its fingers and tore off a 9-2 run.
- The CCSU defense was grinding through the last quarter of the game and made everything difficult for the Red Flash offense, forcing SFU to shoot 4-11 after they had went two quarters straight where they were more likely to make it than miss. But the Red Flash were lights out at the line late, shooting 9-9 to ice the game.
NOTES
- The Blue Devils were outrebounding the 15-8 at one point in the game, though SFU ended with a 41-36 advantage on the glass.
- Berube and Toppin led the way on offense with 15 points each.
