Men's Basketball Falls at Quinnipiac on Saturday
The Central Connecticut men's basketball lost to Quinnipiac, 76-65, on Saturday at the People's United Center. The River Hawks built a double-digit cushion at halftime and did not allow the Blue Devils to come closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Senior Stephane Ayangma scored a team-high 13 points, while freshman Trenton McLaughlin added 11 points. CCSU shot 20-of-53 (.377) from the field in the game and was 6-of-23 (.261). Central was a season-best 19-of-23 (.826) from the foul line.
Tymu Cheney led four Bobcats in double-figures with 17 points. Kevin Marfo had 14 points and 14 rebounds. QU shot 27-of-62 (.435) from the floor and was 9-of-36 (.250) from three-point range. The Bobcats went 13-for-13 at the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central would take a three-point lead midway through the opening half on a 10-0 run. Ayangma scored the final four points of the spurt and his foul shots with 8:29 to go in the half made it 17-14.
- A pair of foul shots by junior Tre Mitchell tied the game at 29-all with 0:41 to go in the half, but Quinnipiac got a layup just before the horn to make it 31-29 at the intermission.
- The Bobcats opened the second half with a 13-2 run over a 4:02 span to take the lead for good. The lead would expand to as much as 61-44 with 7:47 to play and CCSU would score the final four points for the final margin.

46 - The Blue Devils got a 46-20 advantage in scoring from their bench. Ayangma and McLaughlin totaled 24 points in 33 minutes off the bench.
NOTES
- CCSU leads the all-time series 47-23, but this was the first meeting since Feb. 25, 2013.
- Central was outrebounded 40-26. Freshman Andre Snoddy had a team-high seven rebounds for CCSU.
- Freshman Jayden Brown saw his first action of the year for Central and had seven points and three steals
- Freshman Arian Dehnavi had two blocked shots.
