Baseball Falls to LIU in Series-Opener on Friday
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped the series-opener to LIU, 4-3, on Friday at CCSU Baseball Field. The Sharks scored two runs in the first inning and would hold the Blue Devils' rally off to pick up the opener in the Northeast Conference series.
The Blue Devils and Sharks continue their three-game series on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Sharks scored two runs in the top of the first. An RBI-double by Michael Edelman drove in the first run and a bases-loaded walk to Connor Price made it 2-0.
- CCSU was held hitless until sophomore Elliot Good hit a solo homerun with two outs to make it 2-1.
- LIU tacked on a run in the fourth on a sac fly by Giovanni Ciaccio to make it 3-1. The lead increased to 4-1 in the fifth on a solo homerun by Price.
- Central got a two-out single by freshman Aidan Redahan with two runners on in the sixth to score a pair and make it 4-3.
- The Blue Devils were held hitless over the final three frames to settle the score.
NOTES
- Sophomore Dominic Niman started and went 7.0 innings. He scattered 10 hits and was charged with four runs, while striking out five.
- Junior Dylan Benton tossed 2.0 scoreless inings on one hit.
- Good's homerun was the first of his career.
- Senior Jay Devito had a single and junior Noah Martinez hit a double.
- CCSU was held to just four hits in the game, a season-low.
