Baseball Knocks Four Homeruns in Sunday Win at Navy
The Central Connecticut baseball team capped a three-game series with an 11-4 win over Navy at Terwilliger Brothers Field on Sunday. The Blue Devils scored four runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and five in the ninth to close out their season-opening series with a win.
The Blue Devils return home to host UAlbany on Tuesday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central would break the game open with four runs in the top of the fourth. Senior Jay Devito singled to lead off and was followed by junior Dan Covino launching his first homerun of the season to make it 2-0. Junior Noah Martinez would follow with a double and two batters later, sophomore Michael Torniero beat out a bunt single to put runners on the corners. Senior Sam Loda laced a two-run double down the left field line to drive in two runs and make it 4-0.
- CCSU added to the lead in the fifth after Covino reached on a two-out single. Martinez followed with a homerun to make it 6-0.
- Navy put runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. A throwing error would allow a run to score to make it 6-1.
- The Midshipmen would get within two runs after a three-run sixth inning. With two outs they drew a pair of walks and Zane Raba would follow with a homerun to right center to make it 6-4.
- The Blue Devils' third homerun of the game padded their lead in the ninth. After Loda led off with a single, sophomore Hunter Pasqualini hit a homer to left to make it 8-4. Covinowould hit a two-out single to extend the inning and Martinez followed with his second homerun of the game to make it 10-4. Torniero would cap the scoring with an RBI-double to drive in junior Jack Nolan.

- Junior Noah Martinez has reached base in 23 consecutive games dating back to last season. He went 3-for-5 with two homeruns and five RBIs.
- Junior Dan Covino went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.
- Senior Sam Loda went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
- Sophomore Michael Torniero had two hits and drove in a run.
- Sophomore Anthony Mozzicato started for CCSU and allowed just three hits over 5.0 innings. He allowed one unearned run and had one strikeout.
- Freshman Vincent Spizzuocco tossed 3.0 innings to collect the save. He did not allow a hit and struck out three batters.
- Central's lineup banged out 16 hits, including seven extra-base hits.
