Baseball to Face Sacred Heart at Northeast Conference Championship on Thursday
The Blue Devils are the #2 seed and play Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m.
Central Connecticut will open play at the Northeast Conference Baseball Championship on Thursday, May 27, at 4:00 p.m. against Sacred Heart at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT. CCSU has a 24-12 overall record and a 21-9 mark in conference play. The Blue Devils won eight of 10 NEC series' during the regular season.
Dodd Stadium is home of the Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Fans will be permitted to attend the championship at Dodd Stadium with certain guidelines in effect. The Blue Devils are playing in the NEC Tournament for the 17th time and have an all-time record of 31-23. CCSU is the defending champion, having won the last league championship in 2019, and has won six NEC titles overall (2002, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2017, 2019).
Bryant enters the tournament as the top seed for the eigth straight season. The Bulldogs went 25-12-1 overall and 21-4 in NEC play. Sacred Heart (22-23, 17-10 NEC) and LIU (20-13, 18-11 NEC) round out the championship field.
The Blue Devils have gone 6-6 this season against the rest of the championship field. CCSU went 2-1 against LIU, while going 3-3 vs. Sacred Heart and 1-2 against Bryant
The Bulldogs and Sharks play at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday to open the championship.
