Braun Honored by NEC With Weekly Baseball Honor
Senior Andrew Braun was recognized as Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week it was announced on Tuesday. Braun picked up his first NEC win of the season last week in the Blue Devils' conference opener.
Braun baffled opposing batters to the tune of an 0.55 WHIP while authoring a complete-game shutout in his first NEC start of the season. The senior southpaw blanked Sacred Heart for 9.0 innings to earn a 6-0 victory in Friday's conference opener. Braun allowed only five hits and no walks while striking out 10 SHU batters. None of the Pioneers' hits went for extra bases. Braun did not allow a runner to advance past second base the entire game and he never faced more than four hitters in one inning. The 6-foot-3 southpaw retired the side in order on five occasions. He set down 12 batters in a row until an one-out single in the ninth inning ended the stretch.
