Baseball Drops Sunday Series Finale to Sacred Heart
Central Connecticut dropped the series finale against Sacred Heart, 3-2, on Sunday at CCSU Baseball Field. The Blue Devils scored a season-low and were held to just six hits in the setback, snapping a three-game win streak.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central opened the scoring with a run in the third. Freshman Jeff Nicol got to third base with one out and would score on a sac fly by sophomore Dan Covino.
- Sacred Heart plated a pair of unearned runs in the fifth inning. With two outs, Justin Jordan would score on an error and a single by Austin Markmann on the next batter would score a run to make it 2-1.
- CCSU tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Junior Matt Bertochi singled with two outs and scored on a double by Covino to make it 2-2.
- Joey Skarad led off the seventh with a single for SHU and would score from second on a single by Anthony Porrino to plate the eventual winning run.
NUMBER TO KNOW
3 - Freshman Anthony Mozzicato and sophomore Tim Buchek did not walk a batter in Sunday's game. CCSU pitchers walked just three batters in 27.0 innings of the three-game series.
NOTES
- Mozzicato (1-1) scattered seven hits over 6.1 innings of work. He struck out four and allowed three runs, just one earned.
- Buchek threw 2.2 innings of hitless relief. He struck out six batters.
- Junior Jay Devito went 2-for-3 for CCSU. Four other Blue Devils recorded one hit.
