Rafter Wins Third Athlete of the Week Award
Senior runner Angie Rafter took home her third Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week award on Wednesday. This is the third time Rafter has been named Athlete of the Week this season, which has been every time possible thus far.
Rafter put together a stellar performance at the New England Championships last Saturday, finishing fifth overall in the women's 5K race.
The senior's finish helped the Blue Devils finish with a 210 final score as a team, which put them in eighth place out of the 24 teams that competed in Boston.
Rafter, who was the NEC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season, has somehow gotten even faster in the offseason.
In the season opener for CCSU, the Marist Invitational, Rafter finished first overall in the women's 5K race with a time of 18:17.7.
In the Blue Devils' next race, the Ted Owen Invitational, Rafter beat that time with ease and finished five seconds ahead of the next runner. She won the 5K with a time of 17:35.5.
Women's cross country will be back in action on October 22 when they host the Blue Devil Mini Meet.
