Women's cross country picked up third place as a team at the 18th annual Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday. Three Blue Devils made their way into the top five, while senior Angie Rafter took home first place by a margin of 15 seconds.
FINAL SCORE CCSU 98 (Third Place)
- Rafter and a runner from American International College were neck-and-neck through the early part of the race. Towards the bottom loop, Rafter turned up the jets a bit and was able to pull away with the lead. By the time she got to the finish line, Rafter was 15 seconds ahead of the AIC runner, finishing at 17:35.5.
- The Blue Devils had a tight pod following closely behind Rafter throughout the race and were able to finish as one. Ashley Dana (18:15.5) and Brooke Morabito (18:34.4) finished third and fifth, respectively.
The Blue Devils head to Massachusetts to run in the New England Championships with a more complete roster. Some of the freshman on the team who did not race on Saturday should be available for this race.
