Rafter Takes Home Athlete of the Week Honors
Senior runner Angie Rafter represented the Blue Devils in this week's Northeast Conference Awards, taking home Athlete of the Week honors.
Rafter was named Athlete of the Week thanks to an impressive showing in the Blue Devils first meet of the season at the Marist Invitational.
Senior Ashley Dana and junior Brooke Morabito were also named Prime Performers by the NEC. Morabito finished fifth in the women's 5K with a time of 18:51.7 while Dana finished 13th at 19:16.1.
The senior finished first in the women's 5K with a time of 18:17.7. She crossed the finish line a full nine seconds before the second place runner.
This is far from the first time that Rafter has left the competition in the dust at CCSU. She took home the gold in the NEC Championships in 2018 and 2019, and was .1 second away from a three-peat last season.
Rafter also won the Ted Owen Invitational the last two times it was run (last year the annual race was not run). The senior will be looking to defend that title on September 25 at this year's Ted Owen Invitational.
