Cross Country Continues Season at NCAA Regional Championships Friday
On Friday, Nov. 15 the Central Connecticut men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the 2019 NCAA D1 Northeast Region Cross Country Championships at the Audobon Gold Course in Amherst, NY. The women's 6K race will kick off the championship meet at 11 a.m. followed by the men's 10K run at noon.

The women's cross country team is coming off a two-peat at the Northeast Conference Cross Country Championships. The team kept the hardware in New Britain after totaling 38 points and having five runners finish in the top-15. Junior Angie Rafter was named the NEC Most Outstanding Performer for the second straight year after a first place finish with a personal best time of 17:28.5 in the 5K race. Freshman Brooke Morabito was named the NEC Freshman Year after a 15th place finish at 18:43.4. The 2019 championship marked the fourth CCSU women's title and seventh time a Blue Devil was the NEC Individual Champion.
The Central men's cross counrty team is coming off a noteable team effort at the NEC Championships, earning the runner-up trophy after scoring 50 points. Senior Roberto Piotto was named the 2019 NEC Most Outstanding Performer after crossing the finish line first overall with a time of 25:19.0 in the men's 8K. Rookie Elias Field was the seventh place finisher at 25:57.5 making him the NEC Freshman of the Year. Central's first five finishers came in the top 20 out of a field of 89 runners. The Wagner Seahawks were named the NEC Champions with 43 points.
