Women's Cross Country Competes at NCAA Regional Championships
Dawn Hubbell led the Blue Devils for the second straight meet.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team finished 27th out of 36 of the Northeast's top-schools at the 2017 NCAA Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 10. The meet was hosted by the University of Buffalo at Audubon Golf Course in Amherst, NY. Coming off of a stellar third place performance at the 2017 Northeast Conference Championships,l junior Dawn Hubbell led the Blue Devils once again. Hubbell broke the top-100 in 97th place out of a field of 251 runners with a final 6K course time of 23:27.5.
Trailing Hubbell and finishing within six seconds of each other was junior Madeline Mondo and freshman Megan Brawner. Mondo crossed the finish line at 23:41.6 in 131st place. Brawner, the 2017 NEC Rookie of the Year, completed the race in 23:47.8 in 139th place.
Rookie Angie Rafter was next in for Central with a solid run in 149th place with a time of 23:50.9. Classmate Kaitlyn Stevens turned in at 24:35.0 in 182nd place.
Junior Morgan Ricci and senior Olivia Mondo rounded out the seven competitors for the New Britain squad. Ricci ran a 25:50.9 and Mondo finished at 26:09.4.
