Mondo Paces Women's Cross Country at New England Championships Saturday
The Blue Devils will next host their CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 20 at Stanley Quarter Park.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team placed 19th out of 27 other teams, including 194 total runners, at the 105th Annual New England Cross Country Championships and the 14th men's and women's combined New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEIAAA) Championship held at Franklin Park in Boston, MA on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Central Connecticut junior Madeline Mondo raced in first for the Blue Devils in 33rd place turning in a 5K course time of 18:49.4. Rookie Megan Brawner was next in for CCSU at the 19:31.1 mark in 78th place.
Junior Dawn Hubbell and Olivia Mondo completed the race with each other in 20:28.5 and 20:28.9, respectively. Freshman Kaitlyn Stevens followed close behind with a final time of 20:36.5.
Rookie Angelia Rafter and junior Morgan Ricci rounded out the championship afternoon for Central with times of 20:46.1 and 21:11.7.
The women's cross country team will next host the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 20 at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The women's varsity race will begin at 4:00 p.m. and junior varsity will follow at 4:30 p.m.
Coming up for the Blue Devils on Saturday, Oct. 28, Central will welcome league opponents to Stanley Quarter as host of the 2017 Northeast Conference Championships. Further championship info will be released at a later date.
