Women's Cross Country Takes Third at Ted Owen Saturday
Mondo placed fourth out of 93 runners to lead CCSU.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team took third place out of 11 other Divison 1 teams competing at the 15th Annual Ted Owen Invitational Saturday, Sept. 23. Four Blue Devils finished in the top-25 out of a field of 93 runners. The women ran at Stanley Quarter Park across a 5K course and turned in an average time of 19:21.
Junior Madeline Mondo tabbed the top-finish for the Blue Devils in fourth place after completing the race in a time of 18:23.2.
Following Mondo in eighth place was classmate Dawn Hubbell who flew in at 18:49.5. About 30 seconds later, rookie Megan Brawner recorded a time of 19:19.6 for CCSU in 14th place. Senior Olivia Mondo finished in 25th place with a time of 19:49.1.
Two true freshmen, Kaitlyn Stevens and Angelia Rafter came in 38th and 40th place at 20:26.0 and 20:33.1. Junior Morgan Ricci ran a 21:37.8 and Kailyn Accetura crossed at 21:42.1 in her collegiate debut. Rounding out the New Britian squad was freshman Shannon Thompson who completed the course in 23:24.9.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will next travel to Boston, MA on Saturday, Oct. 7 to run at the New England Championships held at Franklin Park.
