Roufs Named NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week
Central Connecticut junior Isabelle Roufs was named Northeast Conference Volleyball/Molten Defensive Player of the Week it was announced Tuesday by the league office. Roufs had a strong influence in the Blue Devils' five-set win over Sacred Heart.
Roufs contributed eight blocks and a dig in five-set win over SHU, helping to limit the Pioneers to a .216 hitting percentage. Central finished the match with 13 total blocks - its second-highest total of the season - and Roufs assisted on the match-winning block to close out the win. She had three total blocks in the third set alone as CCSU took a 2-1 lead in the match. Offensively, she had five kills while hitting .529.
Roufs has helped CCSU hold opponents to a .180 hitting percentage and 2.05 blocks/set, which leads the Northeast Conference. In conference play, Roufs ranks second in the NEC averaging 1.3 blocks/set. This is Roufs' second weekly award, having also been named the Defensive Player of the Week on August 30.
CCSU travels to Saint Francis U on Friday, October 7, for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
