KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU scored the first six points of the match and capped of by a block from Stela Velinova and a kill by Weronika Poczynek. The Blue Devils would push the lead to as much as 21-10 en route to comfortably taking the opening set.
- The Blue Devils would lead throughout much of the second set, but LIU would lead 20-19. CCSU responded with a block from Isabelle Roufs and Mia Lombardo to tie the match and spark a run of three straight points. Back-to-back kills by Lauren Milani put CCSU in front, 23-20. The Sharks would climb within a point, but Central closed the set out with a block by Velinova and Milani.
- Central appeared to be on the cusp of winning the match with a 23-19 lead in the third set. LIU would force a CCSU timeout with consecutive points and would then tie the set at 23-all to force another Central stoppage. Poczynek recorded a kill to give CCSU set point, but an LIU timeout preceded three straight points by the Sharks to extend the match.
- The Sharks led throughout the fourth set, going ahead by as much as 20-11, and never allowed the Blue Devils to find a groove which would force a fifth set.
- In the decisive frame, LIU never trailed and after CCSU was within 10-8 following a kill by Poczynek the Sharks closed the match on a 5-1 run.
NUMBER TO KNOW
14 - CCSU had 14 total blocks in the first three sets, but did not record a block in the final two sets of the match.
NOTES
- Weronika Poczynek posted her second straight double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs.
- Marcelin had 15 kills and hit .458 in the match.
- Isabelle Roufs had a season-high nine blocks, while Mia Lombardo added a season-high five.
