Henderson, Roufs Earn NEC Volleyball All-Conference Honors
Senior Emma Henderson and sophomore Isabelle Roufs of the Central Connecticut volleyball team were both named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Henderson and Roufs both earned Second Team honors in 2019 as well.
Henderson led the Blue Devils and ranked third in the league with 3.48 kills per set. She also ranked second on the NEC leaderboard with 0.38 aces per set and ninth with 3.31 digs per set. Henderson closed the season with five straight matches with double-digit kills, along with four double-doubles. She had a season-high 24 kills with 19 digs in a five-set win over LIU on March 17. She posted six service aces in a straight-set win over Merrimack on March 9.
Roufs led the circuit with a .336 hitting percentage, which also ranked among the top 100 nationally. Roufs ranked fourth in the NEC with 1.10 blocks per set, while helping the Blue Devils defense hold opponents to a .157 hitting percentage. Roufs had a season-high 11 kills, while hitting .667 in a three-set win over Merrimack on March 9. She had nine blocks in a five-set win over LIU on March 17, while also posting eight blocks in a 3-1 win at Bryant on March 23.
The Blue Devils finished 4-4 during the abbreviated spring campaign after the fall season was eliminated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LIU earned the league's bid to the NCAA Tournament following cancellation of the NEC volleyball championship match due to a positive COVID-19 result among Sacred Heart's Tier 1 personnel and failure to meet the minimum roster requirements due to contact tracing.
