Eisenga Recognized by Northeast Conference Monday
Senior Ashlyn Eisenga of the Central Connecticut volleyball team was recognized as Northeast Conference co-Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday.
Senior Ashlyn Eisenga of the Central Connecticut volleyball team was recognized as Northeast Conference co-Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Eisenga shared the honor with Bryant's Erika Ward after helping the Blue Devils split a pair of matches against the Bulldogs last week.
Eisenga averaged 6.67 digs per set last week and added six assists, while helping hold Bryant to a .164 hitting percentage. In the Blue Devils' four-set win, Eisenga collected a season-high 32 digs to go with three assists and did not have a reception error. CCSU held the Bulldogs to a .108 hitting percentage in the win. In a five-set setback in the opening match of the week, Eisenga had 28 digs and three assists.
The 2019 NEC Defensive Player of the Year, Eisenga leads the circuit with 6.62 digs per set this season and has helped CCSU rank second holding opponents to a .115 hitting percentage. Eisenga ranks 13th nationally in digs per set
Classmate Samantha McCreath was among other top standouts in the league last week and was named to the Prime Performers list it was also announced.
The Blue Devils, who are 4-4 on the season, conclude the NEC spring campaign on Wednesday, March 31, with a pair of matches against Fairleigh Dickinson at Detrick Gymnasium.
