Volleyball Tabbed Second in Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll
The Central Connecticut volleyball team was picked second in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll it was announced by the league on Thursday. The Blue Devils reurn a veteran lineup that advanced to the NEC Championship contest in 2019.
Central will play a five-week, 12-match schedule beginning on Tuesday, March 2.
Defending champion Sacred Heart was the unanimous pick as the preseason favorite. Bryant was picked third, followed by LIU, St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairleigh Dickinson and Merrimack.
Head coach Linda Sagnelli will begin her 21st season at the helm of the CCSU program with a lineup that returns three All-NEC selections, including Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year senior Ashlyn Eisenga. Eisenga was a First Team All-NEC choice, while senior Emma Henderson and sophomore Isabelle Roufs were both named to the All-NEC Second Team.
The top two teams will qualify for a single-match NEC Championship hosted by the top seed on April 3.
