Volleyball Sweeps Merrimack Friday

Central Connecticut won its second straight Northeast Conference volleyball match, defeating Merrimack in straight sets on Friday at Hammel Court in North Andover, MA. . CCSU returns hoome to host St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central trailed, 9-5, in the opening set but would respond with four straight points. CCSU would outscore the Warriors, 8-1, to close out the set and won the frame on an ace by junior Nicole Kramer.
- CCSU scored the first five points of the second set and would lead by as much as 21-8 in the frame. Senior Madelyn Kaprelyan would close the set out with an ace.
- The Blue Devils used a 5-1 surge midway through the third set to build a 16-10 lead and would go on to close out the match

NOTES
- This was the first meeting between the schools since Merrimack announced its intentions to join the Northeast Conference.
- Senior Madelyn Kaprelyan was announced as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award on Thursday.
- CCSU won back-to-back matches for the first time in 2019 and has not dropped a set in either win.
- Kaprelyan led CCSU with nine kills to go with 11 assists, three blocks and two aces.
- Senior Morgan Woycik hit .714 in the match, recording five kills, while junior Emma Henderson had eight kills and hit .583.
- Senior Erin McDermott collected 17 assists.
