Women’s Track Sets Five Personal Bests at Larry Ellis Invitational
Central hosts the CCSU Blue Devil Invite on Saturday, April 27.
The Central Connecticut women's track team set five collegiate bests on Saturday at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. Senior Sierra Nesmith earned the silver medal in the 400 meter hurdles beating her previous time of 1:01.83 with a 1:00.59 finish. Freshman Ashley Dana came in 23rd place after running the women's 800 meter run in 2:18.66 just beating her previous time of 2:18.86. Junior Megan Brawner ran in the elite 800 meter event recorded a best time of 2:12.69.
In the 400 meter dash, junior Kadizha Benjamin earned a 31st place finish after completing the event in 1:00.74 for new collegiate best. Senior Abrah Toomey also set a personal record in the javelin with a toss of 37.40 meters for a seventh place finish.
Juniors Taylor Davis and Erica Snape competed in the 100 meter dash. The two athletes came in 25th and 27th place with times of 12.86 and 12.99 seconds respectively. Davis also ran in the 200 meter dash recording a time of 26.37 seconds.
Sophomore Angie Rafter ran in the 800 meter run earning a fourth place finish with a time of 2:16.09.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team (Snape, Nesmith, Rospierski, and Davis) came in eighth place with a time of 49.20 seconds. The 4x400 team (Kilian, Rafter, Vasquez, and Brawner) earned a fourth place finish with a time of 4:03.88.
Senior McKenna Kilian competed in the high jump and long jump. She earned a second place finish in the long jump with a height of 5.50 meters and came in 11th place at 1.57 meters in the high jump. Benjamin also competed in the high jump with a height of 1.52 meters.
Junior Gianna D'Amato came in 14th place with a toss of 30.40 meters in the women's javelin.
The Central track team hosts the CCSU Blue Devil Invite on Saturday, April 27 in New Britain, CT.
