Women's Track in Second Place After Day One of NEC Championship
Dawn Hubbell earned the silver medal for the women's 3,000-meter run.
After the first day of the 2019 Northeast Conference Championship, the Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team posted 21 points sitting in second place. Mount St. Mary's totaled the most points of the day with 40.

Senior Dawn Hubbell finished less than a second behind Mount St. Mary's Eri Jaskot to earn the silver medal for the women's 3,000-meter run. Jaskot finished in 10:10.00 and Hubbell clocked in at 10:10.07. The senior runner beat her previous time of 10:09.99 in the event.
Junior Hailey Rospierski earned a silver medal of her own in the high jump. She jumped 1.67 meters earning eight points for Central.
Senior McKenna Kilian had a seventh-place finish in the long jump recorded a leap of 5.54 meters earning two points for the Blue Devils.
In the women's weighted throw, senior Abrah Toomey earned one point for CCSU finishing eighth after a throw of 13.33 meters. Sophomore Celine Delice and freshman Danyelle Engels also competed with throws of 10.38 and 9.32 meters respectively.
Rospierski also qualified for the 60-meter hurdles after winning her heat with a time of 8.94 seconds.
Junior Megan Brawner will advance to the one-mile finals after running the fastest time of the day of 5:12.33. Brawner also qualified for the 800-meter run finals winning her heat and finishing third overall in the prelims with a time of 2:22.22
Senior Sierra Nesmith represented Central in the 400-meter dash. She finished in 57.32 seconds qualifying for the finals. The ___ native also qualified for the 200-meter dash clocking in at 25.24 seconds.
Junior Taylor Davis set a personal best time of 8.10 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries but did not advance to the finals.
Day two of the NEC Championships will start tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 60-meter hurdles final and will conclude at 2:15 p.m. with the closing awards ceremony. All track events will be streamed live on NEC Front Row and field event highlights will be posted on NEC Front Row On-Demand.
