Nesmith Sets New School Record for Triple Jump at New England Championships
Senior Sierra Nesmith recorded 11.81 meters for the triple jump.
Senior Sierra Nesmith broke the school record for the women's triple jump and led Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team at the 2018 New England Championships on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, MA.
Nesmith set a new school record of 11.81 meters crushing her previous best of 11.73 and the previous record held by Nicole Dumpson of 11.75 meters. She also took home the bronze medal in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.47.
Junior Megan Brawner earned a third-place finish in the 1,000-meter run crossing the finish line at 2:56.25.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team including Nesmith, Samantha Vasquez, Taylor Davis, and Brawner, recorded a time of 4:04.33 earning the bronze.
Senior McKenna Kilian competed in the women's pentathlon earning a fourth place finish recording a total of 3,485 points.
Freshman Kaitlyn Stevens completed the 5,000 meter run in 20:26.57 but did not advance. Junior Hailey Rospierski made it to the semifinals of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.16, but did not qualify for the finals.
The Blue Devils next compete February 8-9 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, MA.
