Blue Devils to Compete at the New England Championships
CCSU will travel to Boston for the second time this season.
The Central Connecticut men's and women's indoor track and field teams will travel back to the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA for the second time this season for the New England Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The events begin on Friday at 10:00 a.m. starting with the women's pentathon 60 meter hurdles, followed by the men's heptahthlon at 10:15 a.m. The rest of the men's events, starting with the pole vault, will begin at 1 p.m. All of the women's events, also starting with pole vault, will start at 4:00 p.m.
Last year at the New England Championships, senior Akiel Smith earned the bronze medal in the 200 meter dash while crushing his old personal record time of 22.16 seconds with a new best mark of 21.80 seconds.
On the women's side, senior Sierra Nesmith led the women's indoor track and field team with the highest individual finish on the team taking sixth place in the triple jump jump of 11.47 meters. In the first day of the 2018 New England Championships, senior McKenna Kilian won her 60 meter hurdles heat with a time of 9.52 seconds, besting her old fastest time of 9.74 seconds.
