Brawner Breaks School Record, Qualifies for ECAC's to Lead Central at BU
Brawner won the 1,000 meter run while setting a new CCSU record a time of 2:54.34 on Sunday.
Sophomore Megan Brawner broke the Central Connecticut indoor 1,000-meter run school record while winning the race with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:54.34 at the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Sunday to lead the Blue Devils.
Brawner broke the 1,000 meter indoor school record of 2:56.67 set back in 2012 by Alasia Greibel.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Hailey Rospierski set a new personal record to take second in her heat in the preliminary round on Sunday with a blistering time of 8.86 seconds. In the finals, Rospierski took fourth place with a mark of 8.95 seconds.
Junior Sierra Nesmith set a new personal record in the 400-meter run with a time of 56.93 seconds, placing 10th overall. Nesmith also jumped 11.60 meters in the triple jump to place seventh overall for CCSU.
Freshman Angie Rafter rounded out a fine showing for the CCSU women's indoor track and field team at the Boston U. Track and Tennis Center, finishing with a time of 2:19.09 in the 800-meter run.
CCSU will send its ECAC qualifiers to the IC4A/ECAC Championships on March 2-4 back at the BU Track and Tennis Center.
