Kilian, Rospierski Compete in Pentathlon at Elm City Challenge
Sophomore McKenna Kilian and freshman Hailey Rospierski represented the Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team Saturday at the Elm City Challenge.
Sophomore McKenna Kilian and freshman Hailey Rospierski represented the Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Elm City Challenge. The two-day indoor meet was held in Moore Field House, at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven, CT. Kilian finished in second place out of 12 competitors, and broke three of her previous collegiate personal best scores, after tallying 3,098 points through five events. Rospierski completed her Blue Devil debut, taking a fifth spot in the overall standings, with 2,900 points.
The second and final day of the meet began with Rospierski taking top honors in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.59 seconds. Kilian finished in fifth place, clocking in a personal best time of 9.23 seconds. The two Blue Devils claimed second and third place in the high jump. Rospierski springing 1.60 meters and Kilian jumping another collegiate best, 1.57 meters.
Kilian threw 8.95 meters in the shot put event, another career best performance, good for fifth place. The sophomore finished in second place in the long jump, with a 5.08 meter effort. The freshman took eighth place after hitting the 8.15 meter mark, in the shot put event, and leaped 4.61 meters (ninth place) in the long jump.
In the last event of the pentathlon, the 800 meter run, McKenna Kilian ran a time of 2.35.12 (fourth place), and Hailey Rospierski rounded-out her collegiate debut, finishing the run in 2.52.43 (tenth place).
The Central Connecticut women's indoor track team will next participate in the Wagner College Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Athletic Complex on Friday, Jan. 6.
