Terry Grabs a Pair of Golds, WTF Finishes Fourth at Minutemen Invitational
The CCSU women's outdoor track and field team finished fourth at the Minutemen Invitational on Saturday hosted by UMass.
Senior Chelse Terry recorded a pair of first place finishes to lead the way for the CCSU women's track and field team at the Minutemen Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts on Saturday at the UMass Track & Field Complex in Amherst, MA. The Blue Devils ended up finishing fourth overall as a team after accumulating 95 total points over 20 scored events. Host team, UMass, racked up 203 total points to earn the victory at the meet.

Terry won both the discus and hammer throws on Saturday to highlight the meet for the Blue Devils. The senior launched the discus a season-best 38.57 meters to claim her first gold and then fired the hammer to a new personal-best mark of 45.46 meters for the victory in the hammer throw.
In the 100 meter dash, junior Sherise Truman ran a huge personal-best on her way to a third place finish in the event. Truman sprinted to a time of 12.25 to record the PR and third placed finish. She followed that up with a runner-up performance in the 200 meter dash clocking in a time of 26.31.
Taylor Boncal also recorded a personal-best time of Saturday, but in the 400 meter dash. The sophomore registered a time of 59.19 to post a third place overall finish in the event.
Senior Mara Lieberman turned in a sixth place finish for the Blue Devils in the 800 meter run. The veteran ran 2:17.27 to record the result.
In the 5,000 meter run, senior Ally Gates finished fifth and was closely followed by freshman Madeline Mondo in sixth. Gates ran 18:33.29 for the top-five finish and Mondo crossed the finish line in 18:33.52 for the sixth place result.
A pair of freshmen posted collegiate-bests in the 400 meter hurdles on Saturday at the Minutemen Invitational. Rookie Sierra Nesmith finished runner-up after crossing the finish line in 1:03.63 and freshman McKenna Kilian grabbed a seventh place finish with a time of 1:06.29.
In the field events, senior Ronea Saunders posted a first place finish in the high jump for the Blue Devils. She cleared 1.71 meters to claim the gold and top the field of 13 high jumpers.
Nesmith continued her successful day and grabbed her second runner-up finish of the meet in the triple jump. The freshman leapt to the 10.81 meter mark to record the result.
The CCSU women's outdoor track and field team will return to action next with the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University at Weaver Stadium in Princeton, NJ on April 22-23.
