Women's T&F Concludes Minutemen Invitational
The Central Connecticut women's outdoor track and field team finished seventh out of nine teams at the Minutemen Invitational on Saturday in Amherst, MA.
The Central Connecticut women's outdoor track and field team finished seventh out of nine teams at the Minutemen Invitational on Saturday in Amherst, MA. The Blue Devils scored 40 points at the meet to record the seventh place finish. The meet was held at the UMass Track & Field Complex on the campus UMass-Amherst.
MINUTEMEN INVITATIONAL RESULTS
Junior Chelse Terry led the way for the Blue Devils at the Minutemen Invitational posting two top-five finishes at the meet. She recorded the best finish of the day for CCSU with a third place finish in the discus. Terry launched the discus to a season-best distance of 39.29 meters to earn the bronze. The junior followed that up with a fourth place finish in the hammer throw. She fired the hammer to 37.39 meters to earn the result.
Freshman Abrah Toomey threw a new personal-best distance of 35.29 meters in the javelin to pick up a fourth place finish for the Blue Devils in the event.
Brandy LeClair also posted a fourth place finish at the meet. The sophomore logged the finish in the 10,000 meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 40:50.59.
Sophomore Melissa Wolliston cracked the top-five with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles for the Blue Devils. Wolliston, a Windsor, CT product, earned the result with a time of 15.24. She followed that up with a sixth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. The sophomore crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 1:07.21 in the event.
Junior Ally Gates competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the Blue Devils at the meet. Gates finished fifth with a final time of 12:15.71.
Sherise Truman logged a pair of seventh place finish for CCSU on Saturday. The sophomore crossed the finish line with a time of 12.68 in the 100 meter dash before coming in at a season-best 26.25 in the 200 meter dash.
Boston College won the Minutemen Invitational, edging Northeastern (147) and host UMass-Amherst (143) with a team score of 150 points. Holy Cross finished fourth with 132 points followed by Stonehill with 83 points to round out the top-five. Amherst was sixth scoring 42 points followed by the Blue Devils with 40 points. CCSU finished ahead of Hartford (16) and American International (10) to complete the nine team field.
The Central women's outdoor track and field team will return to action next weekend at either the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton on April 17 and 18 or the Mark Young Invitational at Yale on April 18.
