Swimming and Diving Opens Season at Husky Invite
The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team opened the 2021-22 season at the Husky Invite at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium in Storrs, CT. The three-team, two-day event included the host UConn Huskies and Northeastern, as well as the Blue Devils.
CCSU fell to UConn 217-124, while Northeastern edged the Blue Devils 106-135.

TOP PERFORMANCES
- 400 Yard Medley Relay - The team of senior Alex Lindgren and sophomores Nathalie Pena, Cassidy Stotler and Kelly Stotler clocked a time of 4:03.27 to place fourth, just ahead of seniors Jeannette King, Mariana Espino and Simona Visinski and sophomore Ashley Calderon, who clocked in at 4:03.31.
- 400 Yard IM - Sophomore Morgan O'Hara placed fourth, clocking a time of 4:42.05.
- 500 Yard Free - Central had three swimmers finish in the top six. Senior Katie Czulewicz (5:15.90) placed third, followed by junior Shannon Welcome (5:18.95) and sophomore Abbey Keane (5:20.90) who placed sixth.
- 100 Yard Back - Senior Alex Lindgren turned in a time of 1:07.80 to place fourth.
- 400 Free Relay - The team of seniors Czulewicz, King, Visinski and Welcome clocked a time of 3:36.85, placing fourth. The relay of Calderon, O'Hara, and seniors Hallie Perrin and Destiny Johnson clocked a time of 3:46.49.
- 1650 Yard Free - Keane had the fourth fastest time with a mark of 18:34.16, while freshman Taylor Demarest had a time of 19:10.56.
- 200 Yard Free - Welcome (1:57.96), Czulewicz (1:58.55), Perrin (2:02.46) and sophomore Kelly Stotler (2:02.70) all finished within five seconds of each other to place 5th through 8th.
- 1-meter Diving - Freshman Zoe Baker led the CCSU trio of divers with a score of 190.15. Freshman Elyse Boothroyd (170.05) and senior Rachel Pinsky (132.35) also scored for Central.
- 100 Yard Free - King turned in the second-fastest time in the event with a time of 53.70.
- 200 Yard Breaststroke - Lindgren had a time of 2:26.13, to place third.
- 200 Yard Free Relay - The relay of King, Perrin, Czulewicz and Visinksi had the fourth-fastest time of 1:41.05. The relay of Calderon, Welcome, Johnson and Cassidy Stotler was just behind in 1:41.97.
