Czulewicz and Pena Earn NEC Swimming Weekly Honors
Central Connecticut junior Katie Czulewicz and freshman Nathalie Pena earned Northeast Conference weekly swimming and diving honors it was announced by the conference office on Thursday. Czulewicz was named Swimmer of the Week and Pena was named Rookie of the Week. The duo helped the Blue Devils win a dual meet at home vs. Bryant last weekend.
Additionally, junior Alex Lindgren and freshman Ashley Calderon were named Prime Performers
Czulewicz won a pair of individual events and helped the Blue Devils win the 400 free relay. The junior opened her day by swimming the 200 free in 1:54.46 to lead a 1-2-3 finish for CCSU. She followed that by winning the 500 free in 5:06.31, again edging out a pair of teammates. She swam leadoff in the 400 free relay, helping CCSU win in 3:36.18.
Pena collected a pair of wins for Central. She won the 100 backstroke in 0:59.63, and followed with a win in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:07.39.
The Blue Devils return to the pool on Saturday against LIU.
