Jeannette King Named NEC Rookie of the Week
King earns her first week honor of the season from the NEC
Central Connecticut freshman Jeannette King was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Wednesday, it was announced by the conference office. King and the Blue Devils split a pair of dual meets over the weekend, winning at home vs. LIU Brooklyn and dropped a road decision to Rhode Island on Sunday.
In addition to King, juniors Erika Maercklein, Valentina Gomez and Alexis Fredricks were all named Prime Performers by the league for their efforts over the weekend.
King had a busy and successful weekend for the Blue Devils. In Saturday's home victory over LIU Brooklyn, King finished second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.02, first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.98, and swam the first leg of the first placed 200 yard freestyle team that finished in 1:39.99 (her time in her 50 was 25.04).
On Sunday, King won the 100 yard backstroke in 58.73, was third in the 100 freestyle in 54.43, and swam in two relays. Her team finished second in the 200 yard medley relay in 1:50.14 and then she swam the third leg in the 400 freestyle relay that placed first in a time of 3:36.37.
