Blue Devils Swim Day One of Tri-Meet With Bryant and Wagner
Gomez posts a victory in the 200 fly for the Blue Devils on day one
The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team finished the first day of a tri-meet at Bryant, along with Wagner, on Friday. Central trails Bryant 110-57 and Wagner 91-76 after the first day of events.
Central started the night off with a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of senior KAitlyn Troy, freshman Katie Czulewicz, junior Alexis Fredricks and sophomore Katelyn Mann finished with a time of 1:41.64.
Senior Aidan Devers was third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.23. Czulewicz was fourth in 1:57.31 and junior Gracie Regan was sixth in 2:01.56.
Freshman Jeannette King finished fourth in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 59.32. Classmate Alex Lindgren was third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.09.
Junior Valentina Gomez won the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:08.13, almost four full seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
King was third in the 50 yard freestyle in 25.20. Freshman Destiny Johnson finished fifth in 25.38.
Devers was third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:11.92. Lindgren finished fifth in the same event in 2:13.86.
Regan placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:52.93.
In the 400 yard medley relay the Blue Devils finished in second place as the team of King, Lindgren, Gomez and Czulewicz posted a time of 3:57.60.
The second day of the meet will take place on Saturday.
