Swimming Falls Short to UNH in Dual Meet Saturday
The Blue Devils fell to UNH 161-121.
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team competed in a dual meet against University of New Hampshire, falling short 162-121 on Saturday.
The Blue Devils began the meet with a second and fourth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The second place team consisting of freshman Mariana Espino, freshman Jeannette King, junior Valentina Gomez, and senior Kaitlyn Troy touched the wall in 1:50.32 to lead CCSU.
Gomez won the 1,000 yard freestlye in a time of 10:46.41, while junior Grace Fredricks came in fourth place with a time of 11:32.01.
Freshman Katie Czulewicz finished second in the 200 yard freestlye with a time of 1:56.72. Junior Grace Regan finished fifth in 2:06.59, and junior Ivy Miline sixth in 2:14.70.
King won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 58.76, while junior Alexis Fredricks finished fourth in 1:00.47, and freshman Hallie Perrin fifth in 1:02.80.
Freshman Alex Lindgren finished third with a time of 1:08.19 in the 100 yard breaststroke. Espino finished fourth in 1:09.50, and sophomore Katelyn Mann sixth in 1:11.69.
Gomez finished second in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.31 and sophomore Erin Brown finished fourth in 2:22.26.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Czulewicz finished thrid in 25.36, Troy fourth in 25.65, and freshman Destiny Johnson fifth in 26.51.
King won the 100 yard freestlye with a time of 54.15, followed by Czulewicz in second place in 54.49. Johnson finished sixth with a time of 58.11.
In the 200 yard backstroke, Devers and Alexis Fredricks finished in first and second place with time of 2:06.46 and 2:08.96 respectively. Perrin finished fifth with a time of 2:13.40.
Lindgren finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.16. Espino finished fifth in 2:31.83 and junior Gracie Regan sixth in 2:33.73.
Devers came in second place in the 500 yard freestlye in 5:18.21. Alexis Fredricks came in fifth place in 5:32.12 and Miline in sixth in 5:52.21.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Gomez finished second in 58.58, Mann finished fourth in 1:03.98, and Alexis Fredericks fifth in 1:05.50.
Devers won the 400 yard IM in 4:43.27 and Espino finished second in 4:57.43.
In the last event, the 200 yard freestyle relay, the CCSU team finished in first and second place. The first place team consisted of King, Czulewicz, Troy, and Alexis Fredericks. The second place team was Johnson, Perrin, Brown, and Mann.
