Blue Devils in Three Way Tie for Second After Day One of NEC Swimming and Diving Championships
Action continues on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Three-time defending Northeast Conference Champion Central Connecticut sits in a three-way tie for second place after the first two events of the 2018 NEC Championships on Wednesday night. Central, Saint Francis University and Wagner College all have 64 points after two events. Bryant leads the pack with 80 points.
The Blue Devils began the night with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay on Wednesday. The team of junior Kaitlyn Troy, senior Maddy Garber, sophomore Valentina Gomez and senior Lauren Czulewicz swam 1:42.98 to edge Saint Francis U for second place. Bryant won the event in 1:40.88.
Central followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:30.47. The squad of sophomore Erika Maercklein, sophomore Gracie Regan, Czulewicz and junior Aidan Devers finished behind Bryant, Wagner and Saint Francis U to earn 30 points.
The action continues on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The teams will compete in the prelims in the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and 1 meter diving as well as the 200 freestyle relay.
