Swim And Dive Dominates In Dual Meet At Bryant
CCSU defeated Bryant by a score of 172-90.
The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team dominated against NEC opponent Bryant University in a dual meet held in Smithfield, RI on Friday night. The Blue Devils defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 172-90 and improve their record to 2-1 in dual meets on the season.
The Blue Devils finished in first place in 12 of 14 events at the meet and five Blue Devils earned multiple gold medals on the night.
Sophomore Christine Rasile led the Blue Devils as she was involved in four first place finishes for CCSU. Rasile accounted for two individual first place finishes and picked up two more as a member of CCSU relay teams.
Rasile touched the wall first in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events, finishing the 100 with a time of 53.81 and the 200 with a time of 1:56.24. Rasile also swam as the anchor on the 200 yard medley team that finished with a time of 1:48.88 and she was the lead swimmer on the 400 yard freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 3:38.08.
Senior Helene Neuhaus, freshman Maddy Garber and sophomore Sabree Thomas were the other members of the 200 yard medley team. Neuhaus and freshmen Lauren Czulewicz and Lauren Rasile joined Christine Rasile on the 400 yard freestyle relay team.
Sabree Thomas, Maddy Garber and junior Selene Chilton also shined for the Blue Devils as they each picked up two individual gold medals.
Thomas recorded first place finishes in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly. She swam the 100 in 58.78 and the 200 in 2:11.35.
Garber placed first in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke with respective times of 1:06.53 and 2:21.23. Garber's time of 2:21.23 in the 200 breaststroke breaks the CCSU swimming and diving freshman record that she set last week at 2:21.30.
Chilton picked up gold medals in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle events. She completed the 500 with a time of 5:15.52 and the 1000 with a time of 10:42.58.
CCSU will return to action on Nov. 15 in a tri-meet against Vermont and Merrimack. The meet will be held at Vermont and the action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
