Blue Devils Compete In Time Trials Saturday At UCONN
Women's swimming and diving opened up the 2014-15 season with a scrimmage at the University of Connecticut.
The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team competed in a non-scoring scrimmage against Connecticut, Yale and Rhode Island Saturday afternoon at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium in Storrs, CT.
The Blue Devils opened up the season on Saturday and saw great performances from several swimmers, including freshmen Maddy Garber and Lauren Czulewicz, and senior Helene Neuhaus.
Garber was the first representative for the Blue Devils in three events. The rookie placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke in her Blue Devil debut with a time of 1:05.86, less than one second behind the leader. She also finished fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.68 and sixth in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.77.
Senior Helene Neuhaus recorded a fourth place finish with a time of 59.20 in the 100 yard backstroke and a sixth place finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.47.
Freshman Lauren Czulewicz touched the wall in fifth place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.58 and she also placed eighth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.25.
The Blue Devils also saw a promising time from their 200 yard medley relay team. The team consisted of Neuhaus and Garber, as well as sophomores Sabree Thomas and Christine Rasile. The team finished fifth in the event with a time of 1:50.20.
CCSU swim and dive will begin regular season action next Saturday, at home, with the Blue Devil Diving Invite at 1 p.m. followed by a swim meet at 5 p.m. against LIU Post.
