Her teammate Kelly Brady also earned league honors and was named a Prime Performer. It was announced on Monday by the league office. Yepes scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday in the Blue Devils 3-0 win over Howard University in Washington, DC.
Yepes and Brady collectively scored all three goals in Sunday's game. Brady recorded a brace, scoring the first two goals of the match, and Yepes scored the final goal, securing CCSU's fourth shutout in a row.
The first goal from Brady was a result of some was a result of some slick passing between Zoe McGlynn and Aoife Horgan. Brady got a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper sent the ball into the lower left corner of the goal where it found the back of the net.
Brady scored for the second time after the Blue Devils were awarded a penalty. Gia Inzerillo beat two players and crossed the ball to McGlynn who was fouled as she was about to score. The goalkeeper made a great save on the penalty kick before Brady secured the rebound to score her second goal. The Tomkins Cove, NY native currently ranks sixth amongst NEC leaders in total goals (5) and second in total points.
Yepes scored her first collegiate goal and secured the Blue Devils' shutout with five minutes remaining in the game. She was passed a through ball from Kristina Kelly and was able to wrestle the ball away from a defender. She charged forwards towards the goal and took a shot which deflected off the goalkeeper and into the goal.
