COACH QUOTE

"It's important to kick off NEC play with a win. Overall, it wasn't our best performance, but we did enough to control the tempo of the game and get the result. LIU's late goal was a reminder that we need to do a better job closing out games."- Head Coach Mick D'Arcy

KEY MOMENTS

  • The Sharks made the first move in the 5th minute of the game with a shot on goal by Kendra Oldroyd. Caitlyn Murphy picked the ball up on one hop to make the save.

  • CCSU had their first scoring chance in the 11th minute after Kiley Yepes booted the ball forward into the box to Kelly Brady. Brady took the shot, sending the ball towards the low center of the goal. LIU's Kayla DeTreux was able to dive and make the save.

  • The Blue Devils opened the scoring 18 minutes into the first half when they were rewarded a penalty kick. Brady took the shot, driving the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal, and burying it into the back of the net.

  • In the 64th minute, Victoria Violette made a through pass down the field to Roma McLaughlin. McLaughlin evaded a sea of Shark defenders and sent the ball into the high left corner of the goal, giving the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead.

  • LIU got on the board with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Nevaeh Rascon took a corner kick, driving the ball into the high right corner of the goal, just out of the reach of Murphy.
