Central will be off for the next week before hosting NJIT in the second of five straight home games. The Blue Devils will not play on the road again until Oct. 3.
The Huskies got on the board quickly at 1:59 on the second goal of the season from Samantha McGuire. McGuire gathered a loose ball at the top of the 18 yard box and beat Central sophomore keeper Nicki Turley to the lower right side for the 1-0 lead.
Senior Julie Lavoie tied the score 1-1 with her first goal of the season in the 17th minute. Lavoie took a pass from junior Charlie Branch and scored from the left side of the box over UConn keeper Allison Saucier.
UConn took a 2-1 lead with just under 20 minutes to play in the first half. Riley Houle took a pass in close to the keeper from teammate Julie Hubbard and scored to the right side of the net for the one goal edge.
The Blue Devils had a pair of chances in the first 25 minutes of the second half, including one on a free kick attempt. After a foul near the top of the box, senior Tori Sousa quickly gathered the ball, passed to sophomore Morgan Santoro who missed just wide in her attempt to tie the game.
The Huskies took a 3-1 lead on the fourth goal of the season from Rachel Hill. She took a pass from Houle and then shot from the left side past Turley for the two goal lead.
Turley made five saves in the loss for the Blue Devils. The Huskies held a 18-11 edge in shots, including 8-4 in shots on goal.
