Former Blue Devil Laura Duncan Named Head Women's Soccer Coach at New Haven

Former All-Conference women's soccer player Laura Duncan was named the head women's soccer coach at the University of New Haven on Tuesday. Duncan was a standout player for the Blue Devils and a member of three Northeast Conference championship teams from 2002-04. She is the second Central alum to hold that position at New Haven, joining former men's soccer Dave Clarke, who is now the head women's coach at Quinnipiac.

Women's Soccer Seniors Leah Blayney and Karise Hilt Named NSCAA All-Region

Seniors Leah Blayney and Karise Hilt were each named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region Team, it was recently announced. Blayney was the 2009 Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year in her final season and was named to the All-Region First Team. Hilt, who was named to the NEC First Team for the second time in her career earlier this year, was named to the All-Region Third Team.

Women's Soccer Wins NSCAA Team Academic Award for the Eighth Straight Year

The 2009 Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team finished the season with a 12-7-2 overall record and won the 2009 Northeast Conference regular season championship. But this past week they continued an impressive streak that they have going in the classroom. The Blue Devils earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the eighth consecutive year.

Women's Soccer Plays for Eighth NEC Title at Home at 1 p.m. Today

The 2009 CCSU women's soccer team plays for the program's eighth title against second seed Monmouth, today at 1 p.m. on the CCSU Soccer Field. The Blue Devils defeated Long Island 1-0 on Friday behind a goal from senior NEC Player of the Year Leah Blayney. Central has won an NEC-record seven women's soccer titles since joining the league. Women's Soccer Falls in Northeast Conference Championship 1-0 to Monmouth on Sunday

Monmouth's Mary Wilks scored 1:02 into overtime to top#1 seed Central Connecticut 1-0 on Sunday in the 2009 Northeast Conference Championship game. With the loss the Blue Devils end their season with a 12-7-2 record. Three Blue Devils were named to the NEC All-Tournament Team, including seniors Leah Blayney and Caity Casey and junior Clio Tregear. The loss is the first at home for the Blue Devils in the last 17 games.

Blayney's Goal Leads Blue Devils to NEC Championship Berth on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Northeast Conference player of the year Leah Blayney scored the game's lone goal as the Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team topped fourth seed Long Island 1-0 on Friday afternoon in New Britain. The win moves the Blue Devils to 12-6-2 overall this season. Central advances to the NEC final on Sunday at 1 p.m. and will play the winner of the Monmouth/Quinnipiac semifinal match being played this afternoon.

Leah Blayney and Mick D'Arcy Earn Major Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Awards on Thursday Night

Central Connecticut State University senior Leah Blayney, the conference's leading scorer, was named the Northeast Conference women's soccer #$%^player of the year on Thursday night. Head Coach Mick D'Arcy earned his fourth NEC Coach of the Year honor after leading the Blue Devils to a 9- #$%^0-1 conference record and the top seed in Friday's NEC Tournament. Senior Karise Hilt and junior Beth Lloyd were named to the NEC First Team, #$%^while senior Caity Casey and sophomore Brittany Jackson were named second team All-NEC. The Blue Devils play fourth seed Long Island at 11 #$%^a.m. on Friday morning in New Britain.

Women's Soccer Set to Host 2009 Northeast Conference Championships - Watch and Follow Every Match Live

For the fifth time in its history, the Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team will host the Northeast Conference Championships. The Blue Devils, who won the regular season NEC title with a 9-0-1 conference mark, will face fourth seed Long Island in the first match of the tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. Second seed Monmouth and third seed Quinnipiac will meet in the other semifinal. Junior Beth Lloyd Named adidas/Northeast Conference Player of the Week

For the second time this season, junior Beth Lloyd has been named the adidas/Northeast Conference Player of the Week. It was announced on Monday by the NEC office. Lloyd and the Blue Devils clinched the #1 seed in this week's NEC Championship and will host #4 seed Long Island on Friday at 11 a.m. Lloyd finished the regular season with a team-high 11 goals on the season, including 10 in her last 10 games and nine against league opponents.

Blue Devils Complete Unbeaten NEC Season on Sunday with 4-0 Victory Over Robert Morris

Junior Beth Lloyd scored twice and had an assist as the Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team finished the Northeast Conference season unbeaten (9-0-1) with a 4-0 victory at home against Robert Morris on Sunday. Senior Leah Blayney and freshman Erin Egan also added goals for the Blue Devils, as they finish the regular season with an 11-6-2 overall record. Central will host the NEC Tournament beginning on Friday in New Britain.

Junior Beth Lloyd scored twice as the Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team beat St. Francis (PA) 5-1 on Friday afternoon in New Britain. The win moves the Blue Devils to 8-0-1 in Northeast Conference play this season and clinches the #1 seed in next week's NEC tournament, which will be played in New Britain on the CCSU Soccer Field. The Blue Devils claim the 2009 NEC regular season title with the victory.

Senior goalkeeper Caity Casey and classmate Leah Blayney were named the adidas/Northeast Conference Player and Defender of the Week, it was announced on Monday. The Blue Devils, 7-0-1 in NEC action this season, qualified for the 2009 NEC Tournament with a pair of victories over the weekend. CCSU is 7-1-1 in its last nine games and 9-6-2 overall this season. They play again at home on Friday hosting St. Francis (PA) at 3 p.m.

Three First Half Goals Lead Blue Devils to 7-0-1 Northeast Conference Record

The Central Connecticut women's soccer team scored three times in the first half on its way to a 3-1 victory on the road at Mount St. Mary's on Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Blue Devils to 9-6-2 overall and 7-0-1 in Northeast Conference play. The victory was the second straight for the Blue Devils and they are now 7-1-1 in their last nine games. Three different Blue Devils scored in Sunday's win.

Women's Soccer Shuts Out Monmouth 1-0 to Move Into Sole Possession of First Place in NEC

The Central Connecticut women's soccer team improved to 6-0-1 in Northeast Conference play this season with a 1-0 victory on the road over Monmouth on Friday afternoon. The win moves the Blue Devils into sole possession of first place in the NEC. The Blue Devils and Hawks and Blue Devils both entered the game 5-0-1 in league play. Junior Beth Lloyd scored her seventh goal of the season in the victory for the Blue Devils. They are now 8-6-2 overall and are 6-1-1 in their last eight games. They return to action on Sunday afternoon at Mount St. Mary's at 1 p.m.

Women's Soccer Plays to Double Overtime Draw With Long Island on Sunday

Junior Lauren Salvia scored the only goal of the game for the Blue Devils as Central Connecticut played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Long Island on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils got two saves in goal from senior Caity Casey and are now 7-6-2 overall and 5-0-1 in Northeast Conference play. They are in action again next Friday at Monmouth at 3 p.m.

Slew of Second Half Goals Leads Central Past Wagner, Remain Undefeated In Northeast Conference

The Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team scored six second half goals and defeated Wagner by a score of 8-0 at home on Friday afternoon. Senior Karise Hilt led the Blue Devils with two goals, while senior goalkeeper Caity Casey recorded her third shutout of the season as CCSU remained undefeated in the Northeast Conference with a record of 5-0.
