Women's Lacrosse Falls to Merrimack on Senior Day
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse fell to Merrimack, 19-10, in Northeast Conference action on Saturday at Arute Field. The Warriors took advantage of a Blue Devils scoring drought in the first half to spoil Senior Day. CCSU honored seniors Kaitlyn Rapp, Emma Sullivan, Olivia Prizzi, Nina Sutton, Molly Coogan, Morgan Sinton and Cooper Cowdin.
Sinton had a goal and three assists for CCSU, while sophomore Alexandra Ruel tallied three goals.
Central hosts Sacred Heart on Wednesday, April 21.

KEY MOMENTS
- Freshmen Eliz Fino and Lauren Valluzzi each had a goal for CCSU in the opening eight minutes to help the Blue Devils grab an early 2-1 lead. Merrimack would hold the Blue Devils scoreless for neary 18 minutes and scored eight straight goals to grab a 9-2 lead.
- CCSU would come back with three straght goals in a span of 1:14. Ruel, Fino and Valluzzi each converted free position shots to get Central within 9-5 at the 3:23 mark. Merrimack would score a goal just before halftime to lead 10-5 at the break.
- Merrimack opened the second half with a 4-1 run, with Rapp tallying a CCSU goal, as the Warriors pushed the lead to 14-7. Sinton would score with 14:48 to play and then assist on a goal by Ruel to make it 14-8.
- MC tallied two goals playing a person up, before Ruel's goal with 10:02 to play made it 16-9. Merrimack outscored CCSU 3-1 in the final 6:41, with Jessica Denike scoring for Central, to account for the final margin.

- Sinton has scored in all but one game this season and has a team-high 20 goals.
- Cowdin made a season-high 15 saves and collected three ground balls.
- Freshman Madison Cowdin had a team-high four ground balls.
- Coogan had a game-high eight ground balls along with a ground ball.
- Freshman Katelyn Parker had two caused turnovers, with three draw controls and three ground balls.
- Sullivan had two caused turnovers with four ground balls.
