Women's Lacrosse Slowed by LIU Saturday
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped a Northeast Conference contest to LIU, 11-5, on Saturday at Arute Field in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils outscored the Sharks after halftime, but it wasn't enough to overcome a seven-goal deficit in the opening half.
Freshman Katelyn Parker scored twice for CCSU, while senior Morgan Sinton, junior Raphaela DaSilva and sophomore Alexandra Ruel each had one score.
Central travels to Saint Francis U next Saturday, March 20.

KEY MOMENTS
- LIU scored four goals in the opening four minutes to take the early lead. Parker would get her first of the day off a feed from freshman Lauren Valluzzi to make it 4-1. Sinton would score off a pass from junior Jessica Denike with 16:18 to go in the half to make it 5-2, but LIU would score four straight to close the half and make it 9-2.
- LIU would score the opening goal of the second half, before DaSilva converted a free position shot with 16:06 remaining. After another LIU goal, Parker scored with 7:02 to play and Ruel finished a free position shot with 3:50 to play to finish the scoring.
NUMBER TO KNOW
20 - CCSU forced LIU into 20 turnovers on the day, while freshman Madison Cowdin accounted for three caused turnovers.
NOTES
- Parker added two draw controls for CCSU.
- Sinton scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season for CCSU.
- Ruel added a team-high four ground balls, along with two caused turnovers. Madison Cowdin and senior Cooper Cowdin each had three ground balls.
- Cooper Cowdin made nine saves in net for CCSU.
